aboutphoto2CGCLee Wells began gently training and handling dogs as a child in 1960 under the watchful eye of her uncle, Joseph, a well-respected Harness Horse Trainer and Doberman Pinscher breeder/handler.  While earning her B.S. in Biological Sciences and Chemistry and Doctorates in Medical Sciences and Law, at the University of California Lee developed her “Gentle Persuasion®” training method. In her 63 years of training,   Dr. Wells has trained more than 30,000 dogs and their humans.

In 1987, Dr. Wells founded Tender Loving Canines Service Dogs.   

She co-founded the Tender Loving CCPDTCanines Pet Therapy program at UCSD Medical Center in 1989.

Dr. Wells founded the Tender Loving Canines of Coronado Therapy Dogs program in 1996.

In 2001 she founded Assistance Dogs for Independent Living, which trains Assistance Dogs for persons    with mobility disabilities.

Lee Wells is nationally certified by The Association of Professional Dogs Trainers, Therapy Dogs Inc.,                                      The American Kennel Club (AKC-CGC and S.T.A.R. Puppy).  She is Certified Animal Behaviorist with IAABC.

Although her primary interest is in Family Pet Dogs, Lee teaches Competition Obedience and she and       her personal dogs have earned many obedience titles with AKC, UKC, and ASCA.
